BRS Pharma Sodium Bicarbonate - 1 gallon mix
SKU: 210807
Ideal for significant alkalinity adjustments or daily dosing in reef tanks with high pH.
Ultra-Pure Sodium Bicarbonate for Precision 2-Part Dosing
Bulk Reef Supply 2-part additives are designed to maintain the balance of calcium and alkalinity as corals grow. Made with pharmaceutical-grade ingredients, these additives ensure a cleaner reef environment with minimal impurities, promoting faster coral growth and enhanced coloration. Unlike other products, BRS additives dissolve crystal clear, leaving no residues or unwanted discoloration.
Each container is pre-measured to create 1 gallon of Sodium Bicarbonate Alkalinity Solution, suitable for any dosing method or as part of the Bulk Reef Supply system. The balanced calcium-to-alkalinity ratio makes dosing straightforward, eliminating the need for complex calculations.
Mixing Instructions - BRS Bicarbonate Liquid Alkalinity
-
Fill a 1-gallon jug 4/5 full with RO/DI or distilled water.
-
Add the entire contents of the container to the jug.

Dosing Instructions
BRS Reef Calculator simplifies dosing calculations.
General Alkalinity Adjustments:
-
Prepare a 1-gallon solution using the Mixing Instructions.
-
Test the aquarium’s alkalinity level.
-
Input current and target alkalinity levels into the BRS Reef Calculator along with total system water volume.
-
Select BRS Bicarbonate Liquid Alkalinity (New Pharma Pouch) and calculate the required dosage.
-
Add the solution gradually in a high-flow area, such as near a powerhead or sump baffle, keeping changes under 1.4 dKH per day to avoid coral stress.
Tip: Difficulty raising alkalinity? Ensure magnesium levels are between 1200-1350 ppm and dose in a high-flow area.
Daily Dosing for Alkalinity Stability: For tanks with a pH below 8.4, BRS Soda Ash Liquid Alkalinity Solution is recommended.
-
Follow the General Adjustments to reach the desired alkalinity, calcium, and magnesium levels.
-
After 5 days, retest alkalinity and compare to the initial level to determine depletion.
-
Use the BRS Reef Calculator with new values to calculate the total 5-day dosing requirement.
-
Add the total required alkalinity back to the aquarium, then begin daily dosing by dividing the total by 5.
-
Adjust daily as needed—reduce by 10% per day if alkalinity is rising, or increase by 10% if it is dropping.
Example for a 100-Gallon Aquarium:
-
Day 1 Alkalinity @ 8 PM: 9.0 dKH (desired level)
-
Day 5 Alkalinity @ 8 PM: 7.5 dKH (current level)
-
5-Day Requirement: 214.2 mL (calculated via BRS Reef Calculator)
-
Daily Requirement: 42.84 mL (214.2 mL / 5 days)
Maintain stable alkalinity levels with precise dosing, ensuring a thriving reef ecosystem.
