Polyp Lab Carbon

I want to state right off that I purchased this carbon for use in a 3D printing filter not for aquarium use. Doing so I accepted the risk that it might be unsuitable and as such tested it for my purpose, to insure it was in fact suitably acid free. I tested this using a variety of carbon steel parts cleaned of rust and oils. After 2 days of testing I am happy to report that there was no oxidation whatsoever seen on any of my test parts. I will be purchasing more of this material as I find it suitable for my purpose.
I will as a precaution test each batch received for suitability( as should anyone else) as I am indeed using it for a purpose other than for its intended purpose.
Having said all that, I am very pleased with my purchase, the speed of processing and shipping, as well as being able to buy from a Canadian source. The Carbon itself appears to be of high quality and indeed acid free.

These are NOT acid free - DO NOT USE FOR 3D Printing

These are NOT acid free. Bought them specifically for 3d printing filter, as any acids in them can cause rusting within components. To be triple sure, I threw some in a container with a damp cloth ontop, with a small fan near them. Rusting occured within a few hours on some bare metal with the coatings scrubbed off.

Again likely not an issue depending on your use, but these are NOT acid free. Have been talking with ReefSupplies, we will see how they handle it. So far they have said I can return it, but havent given me an RMA or any clarity if they will accept it even though it says bulk products wont be accepted in their terms and conditions document.

This is what the retail world has come to! A client purchases acid-free carbon for fish tanks, puts it in a bucket with rusted bolts for 3D printing, and then leaves a 1-star review. We’re doomed!

As for your RMA, we sent it twice, and you even replied to the email. Lastly, we don’t typically accept returns on bulk items, but given how long this has been dragging on, we made an exception—because honestly, we have better things to focus on, like helping customers who use our products as intended.

Please send back the carbon, but feel free to keep your rusty bolts.

Purchased for a 3D printer filter

I needed some activated carbon pellets that were NOT acid washed as they were going to be placed inside a 3D printer to help mitigate the VOCs emitted by printing. They have done a wonderful job and the VOCs, as monitored, did not rise even when using some nasty 3D filament. I will be coming back for more.

Polyp Lab High performance activated carbon in bulk Pelleted (per pound)

Best I’ve seen. Very low dust; only a quick rinse was required when I changed carbon.

works well and is a good size that's easy to use and doesn't scatter all over.
